Light, Energy, & Performance Study 2 (LEAP2)

Jet leg and shift work can cause major disruption to our internal biological clock, the circadian rhythm. Circadian rhythm disruptions cause unrefreshing sleep, low energy, and impaired focus. Using the LumosTech Smart Sleep Mask, we hope to learn how different kinds of short flashes of light are capable of changing the timing of your internal clock to help with problems like jet lag or shift work.  This study is conducted by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and LumosTech, Inc., and funded by the Department of Defense.

What’s involved in this research study?

Participation involves sleep tracking at home, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, and visits to our sleep lab in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh.  Compensation is up to $670.
