
What is an Actiwatch?
A device that is worn on the wrist and measures activity by tracking movement. It also monitors light exposure and helps us assess sleep-wake patterns.
How long will I wear the Actiwatch?
You will wear the watch 24/7 for 2 weeks at a time.
How do I start recording my activity?
Once you put the watch on your wrist, firmly press the hidden button under the serial number, waiting to see a green LED light flash to indicate that recording has started. `
How to wear the Actiwatch:
- The watch must be worn on the same non-dominant wrist the entire time (i.e., if you are right-handed wear the watch on your left wrist).
- Wear the watch continuously 24/7 until your lab visit.
- Wear the watch snugly on your wrist, the face of the watch should be worn on the top of your wrist and it should not slide or spin around.
- Firmly press on the serial number until you see a green light when you turn off the lights to go to sleep and when you get up to start the day.
- You should only take off the watch while showering, bathing, swimming, or playing contact sports.
Can I get the Actiwatch wet?
Yes. The watch is water resistant and can be worn while washing hands, showering, and walking in the rain. However, it is not waterproof, so please take it off while submerged in water, like swimming or bathing.
